Friendly, reliable home help for older people

Questions

Questions people often ask

If your question isn't here, please just ask — there's no such thing as a silly question.

Who do you help?

Older people who are living at home and would like a little extra help with everyday life — whether that's company and conversation, the weekly shop, keeping the house tidy, or a hand with letters and technology. Many people I help are perfectly independent and simply want things to feel a bit easier.

How much does it cost?

It's a simple £28 per hour, with a minimum booking of 1.5 hours (£42). There are no joining fees or hidden extras — you only pay for the time you book. See the pricing page for examples.

Will it always be the same person?

Yes. I'm Cherise, and I work on my own — so you'll always see the same friendly face, never a rota of strangers. That familiarity matters, especially for anyone who finds new people unsettling.

I live far away from Mum or Dad. Can you keep me updated?

Of course — with their agreement. Many families like a quick text, call or email after each visit, so you know how things went and whether anything needs attention. We'll agree what works for everyone at the start.

Do you provide medical or nursing care?

No. I'm not a nurse, so I don't carry out medical or nursing tasks. Personal care support is offered where appropriate and within my level of training and experience — we'll talk it through honestly at the start so everyone knows exactly what I can help with.

What happens first?

Just get in touch by phone, email or the enquiry form. We'll have a friendly chat about what would help, and then arrange to meet at home so we can get to know each other before any visits begin.

Can I book regular visits?

Yes — most people like a regular day and time, whether that's once a week or a few times a week. One-off visits are welcome too, for example before a hospital appointment or after a stay in hospital.

Can you come with me to appointments?

Yes. I can come along to GP, hospital, dental and optician appointments, help you remember your questions, and take notes so nothing is forgotten afterwards.

Can I see your checks and insurance?

Absolutely, and it's a good question to ask anyone coming into a loved one's home. I'm happy to talk through my background, checks and insurance when we first meet and show you any paperwork you'd like to see.

Which areas do you cover?

I work locally. If you're not sure whether you're in my area, just get in touch with your town or postcode and I'll let you know.

Do I have to sign a contract?

No long contracts. We'll agree the help you'd like and the times that suit you, and you can change things as your needs change.

Is this a Christian service? Do I need to share the faith?

The name comes from the Bible story of Martha and Mary, and the values of kindness, dignity and respect behind it are important to me. But everyone is warmly welcome — whatever your faith, or none — and I'd never press my beliefs on anyone.
