For families
Peace of mind for you. Good days for them.
When someone you love needs a little more help, it's natural to worry — especially if you can't be there as often as you'd like. Here's what to expect, and how I can help.
One familiar face
I work on my own, so your loved one sees the same person every time — someone they know, trust and look forward to.
You're kept in the loop
With their agreement, I can send a quick text, call or email after visits — how they were, what we did, anything to be aware of.
Their independence, respected
Help is offered, never imposed. Your loved one stays in charge of their home, their routine and their choices.
Is it time?
Signs a little help could make a difference
Often it isn't one big moment — it's a few small things adding up.
- Post, bills or forms are piling up unopened
- The fridge is emptier than it used to be, or meals are being skipped
- The house is harder to keep on top of than it was
- Appointments are being missed or forgotten
- They're going out less, and days feel long and lonely
- You're worrying about them between your visits
- You're juggling work, family and caring, and it's a lot
Gentle advice
Starting the conversation
Many older people worry that accepting help means losing independence. Usually, it's the opposite — a little help is what keeps them living happily at home.
Talk about what they'd gain
Rather than “you can't manage”, try “wouldn't it be nice to have someone to go to the shops with?” or “it would put my mind at rest.” Focus on company, outings and the things they enjoy.
Start small
A single visit a week — perhaps a coffee trip and help with the shopping — is a gentle way to begin. Many people find they look forward to it far more than they expected.
Let them be part of choosing
Your loved one is welcome to speak to me themselves, and we always meet before visits begin. If it doesn't feel right for them, there's no obligation.
Arranging help from a distance
If you live further away, we can agree everything by phone and email, and I can keep you updated after each visit. You'll know they've had company, a good meal and a tidy home — even when you can't be there.
Want to talk it through first? Call me on 07894 819923. Lots of families start with a chat just to understand the options.
Let's talk about your loved one
Tell Cherise a little about them and what might help — there's no obligation.
